Here at Divinity & Co. Hair Studio, we get that growing healthy, long hair can sometimes feel like a never-ending mission! ( Been There )
Whether you’re fantasizing about long mermaid locks or just want to move past that awkward grow-out stage, there are a variety of things you can do to support your hair’s healthy growth from the root to the tip.
Here are some tried and true tips to help you grow your hair stronger—AND FASTER—without the frustration.
1. The Health of Your Scalp Matters!
Hair growth begins at the scalp. A clean scalp is a healthy scalp & ensure your hair follicles aren't clogged by product or oil buildup. Try to a gentle scalp scrub or relaxing scalp massage into your weekly routine to boost the circulation and create the perfect environment for growth.
Pro Tip: Ask your stylist about in-salon scalp treatments—we offer customized options to support hair growth and detoxify the scalp.
2. Get Those Trims (Yes, Really)
It might sound counterintuitive, but regular appointments for trims will actually help promote your hair to grow faster by preventing the possibility of hair breakage and split ends from traveling up the shaft. We highly recommend getting that trim every 8–12 weeks to keep ends healthy.
3. Minimize Damage- From Both Chemicals and Heat
Using heated styling tools, bleach, or chemical relaxers can weaken hair over time. We recommend trying to air dry your hair when possible, always use heat protectant sprays, and opt for those lower heat settings when you do style. We’re not ironing clothes, Girl 😉
If you're looking to grow your hair, try less damaging alternatives like gloss treatments instead of bleach options, or even opt for a smoothing blowout rather than chemical straightening service.
4. You Are What You Eat- Same Goes For Your Hair
What you put into your body can affect how your hair grows. This includes what you eat! Try to ensure your diet includes lots of protein, healthy fats, iron, and biotin-rich foods like eggs, avocados, and leafy greens. Drinking enough water is also an essential tip to keeping your hair hydrated- starting from the inside out.
5. Wet Hair Needs a Little Babying
We often forget that hair is far more fragile when it’s wet. Try to eliminate rough towel drying, those super tight ponytails, or brushing too aggressively. Instead, we suggest that you use a microfiber towel paired with a wet brush or a wide-tooth comb for detangling to reduce the chance of breakage when prepping wet hair
6. Growth Boosting Products For The Win
There are some great products formulated with key ingredients like caffeine, rosemary, or peptides that are a major kick starter in support of hair growth. Our stylists here at Divinity & Co. Hair Studio can help match you with the perfect shampoos, scalp products, serums, and conditioners tailored to your specific hair type and goals.
7. Consistency is KEY
Your hair grows approximately half an inch per month, so serious results will take time. You’ve really got to stick with a consistent hair care routine, be patient, and truly celebrate those initial small wins—like less shedding all over your house and hairbrush, visibly stronger strands, and even those first new baby hairs ( As annoying as they can be)
